EVERIOFAQ

What's Wi-Fi?
Wi-Fi is a wireless communication technology that allows electronic devices to exchange data directly or via computer networks such as the Internet.
What can Everio do with Wi-Fi?
Everio is equipped with a variety of functions to make wireless visual communication possible. Images from Everio can be beamed in real-time directly to a smartphone/tablet, or streamed over the Internet via wireless LAN network or hotspot access point. Other applications include sending recorded video clips as email attachments, automatic sending of snapshots to your smartphone when Everio detects movement, and home surveillance in conjunction with an optional Pan Cradle unit. Everio with Wi-Fi expands the way you can use video images in your daily life.
What's the difference between Optical Zoom and Dynamic Zoom?
With Optical Zoom, image magnification occurs through the movement of the lens. With JVC's Dynamic Zoom, magnification occurs beyond the capabilities of the lens by electronically tightening the image area of the CMOS sensor. Even so, there is not artificial enlarging and each pixel of the picture you see comes from a pixel on the sensor, so resolution remains high throughout the zoom range.
Do I really need so much zoom?
Yes, it helps. On the tele side, a high zoom ratio lets you get close-up shots that would be impossible with a smartphone or digital still camera. On the wide-angle side, you'll be able to fit more into the picture such as when self-recording a video message.
What is Best Play good for?
Everio has the battery power and storage capacity for you to record hours and hours of video. But having to watch all those hours of footage may bore your audience. Best Play lets you choose the scenes you think are the best and have Everio just them for entertainment-intensive playback.
What is Sports Scoring good for?
When you watch a game on TV, you know the score because it's displayed on the TV screen. But when you record a live game with a camcorder and watch it later, it's difficult to tell (unless you record the scoreboard). The Sports Scoring function lets you keep a running tally of the score as you record the game, and it will be displayed on the screen during playback.
Do I need Wi-Fi to use Sports Scoring?
Yes and No. No, because you can use the Sports Scoring feature by pushing a button on the Everio's LCD screen. But if you have an iPhone or Android smartphone , you might enjoy the feature more by tapping in the score on the phone's screen instead of Everio's. The Everio sync. 2 app that will let you do this is available free of charge from the Apple App Store or Google Play Market.
How can I use my smartphone or tablet with Everio?
Largely there are two ways—as a display device and as a controller. You can have an Everio mounted in a stationary position and watch images from it on a smartphone or tablet. Short distances can be covered by Wi-Fi Direct connection, and via hotspot connection you can view from hundreds of miles away. HD data transfer from Everio to smartphone/tablet is possible, so you can view excellent quality images in your hand. When used with an optional Pan Cradle, the smatphone/tablet becomes a remote controller to pan the Everio from side to side.
What smartphones and tablets are compatible?
Operation is possible with iPhone/iPad/iPod touch models equipped with iOS version 5.1 or later, and smartphones/tablets equipped with Android version 2.3 or later, however this is not a guarantee that all such products are compatible.
